Cast iron has always been the preferred material of the skilled stove maker because it is extremely hard wearing and durable. Cast iron has a thermal mass and excellent heat radiating characteristics and therefore stores heat naturally through its air inclusions. It stores and distributes heat more evenly and for a considerably longer period than any other materials used in stove manufacture. All parts can be replaced.

HearthStone uses "Acaiaca" soapstone, which is quarried in Minas Gerais, Brazil (Minas Gerais means "various mines" in Portuguese).
